McCullum sets night on fire

After a brilliant start to the IPL one can expect the match to follow to be of an even better class, well it was for only 1 team. Winning the toss on what looked like a good wicket for both the bowlers and the batsmen Rahul Dravid, captain of the Royal Challengers elected to field first much to amazement of Saurav Ganguly who admitted that he would have batted first had he won the toss.

The first match in IPL could not have started off in a better way for the Kolkatta Knight Riders as Mccullum put Zaheer Khan completely off by scoring 18 runs in his first over after injury. The pair went on to put 61 run stand for the first wicket in just 5.1 overs before Ganguly fell prey to Zaheer Khan. The Challegers must have felt relieved when after a brilliant start, the riders slowed down to amass only 27 runs in the next 5 overs.

But their hopes were thrashed when in the next 10 overs more than 130 runs were scored thanks to a brilliant knock of 158* off 73 balls with a strike rate of 216.43 which include 10 fours and an amazing 13 sixes.

McCullum destroyed the Challengers bowling with so much ease and comfort that just proves the form that the kiwi is in at the moment. The innings of 158* is now the highest individual score in T20 bettering the previous best of 141 by Cameron White who being a Royal Challenger could only just watch.

The mental dent that McCullum had given the Challengers after that was something so enormous that they could just not pick themselves up in the 20 minute break. They all came and went back to the dug out as soon as they had come which resulted in them being bowled out for a pathetic 82 runs.

The top scorer for Challengers was Praveen Kumar who was the only batsman to get into double figures.
The Knight Riders won the match by a massive 140 runs thanks to a brilliant innings. And if this is what we are going to see at Chinnaswamy stadium every time then i will pay any amount to go and watch the match but i only hope that the home side will do better next time.

What next?
